What: Portfolio Reviews is a new and unique way of bringing together contemporary photographers – both those emerging with a unique vision, as well as those who are already established and looking to expand their editorial reach – with some of the most influential editorial photography editors and directors in the magazine business today. If you are working in reportage, fashion, lifestyle, still life or portraiture, you are the kind of photographer who would benefit most from this event.

Why: In the non-stop field of photography, in order to get an edge over the competition, it’s not enough to just drop off your portfolio.  You MUST get to meet those who will someday hire you.  But not only that.  THEY must get to know who YOU are. It’s called a working relationship. And that can only happen when you get face-to-face feedback when your portfolio is reviewed at Portfolio Reviews.

Who: Our inaugural event will have 25 editors reviewing portfolios – professionals with whom it would be difficult to meet during the course of a normal workday. Difficult until now.

Where: In a Tribeca loft with catered food and drink catered by Providence.(included).

What happens:  For the first hour phase of the night, participants sit down and begin the process of having their portfolios reviewed.  This give and take consists of introducing yourself and your work and receiving immediate and invaluable feedback.  This repeats itself for an hour and one half – then the real fun begins!

The next 45 minutes is light drinking and eating, and heavy mingling.   After this ‘intermission,’ you get to meet your final group of reviewers and wow them with your work.  As importantly, your personality!

How: Click here to apply online. You must provide an online portfolio link for us to review your material. If you are accepted, you will be notified by email. If you have any questions call 212-866-6503.

How Much: The fee is $600.

This event is sponsored by K&M Camera/Rentals.  All attendees will receive a 16x20 inkjet print courtesy of K&M as well as a 30% discount off each of your first two rentals.
